Please do NOT park in front of the venue! The address below is for the venue specifically, but if you plan to drive there, you might want to check out the Parking section to know where to park.
The venue, LUCE on Kettner, has a small area with some asphalt and handicapped parking. You can enter through the double doors and garage doors at the top of the stairs. (There's also a wheelchair lift to get up there if you need it!)
While it might look like there is parking there, please do NOT park in those spaces! We'll need those spaces for vendors to deliver things like tables, chairs, and food.
Please don't park in front of the venue. Our vendors need them for delivering things for the day like tables, chairs, and food.
The easiest option in the area is to pay and park at the parking garage nearby. It's two blocks away, so it should be a 5 minute walk.
Just be careful crossing W Laurel St on the way to the venue: Since this is close to the airport, many drivers have a tendency to run red lights without stopping — both when turning and when going straight.
Since we'll be near downtown, it's unfortunately hard to find parking for cheap. According to their website:
No, they don't offer 'in-and-out' privileges either: If you leave the parking lot and re-enter, you will have to pay another fee in full again.
We don't have a hotel block.
We would avoid anything east of Petco Park since that area tends to be unsafe during both the day and at night.
Gaslamp has a lot of bars. If you like to do a bar crawl, by all means, but if you do plan on staying there, expect to see drunk people and hear nighttime noisiness.
Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, and Mission Beach are all one way in, one way out sort of places. Traffic there can be rather heavy and parking is nonexistent. Pacific Beach has the vibes of a neverending frat party.
Downtown San Diego is fairly sparse, and we would not recommend staying or wandering in the area since there really isn't much to do.
Balboa Park is where most of San Diego's museums are located at. This also happens to be where the San Diego Zoo is located. There are plenty of activities to do in this area, and good food outside the park nearby. You may not want to be around at night though.
Fairly suburban. It's a bit far from the venue or anything interesting to visit, but there are a few good food options.
Similar to Del Mar in that it's mainly suburbs, but beach style. It's close to the beach, but still fairly far from the venue or most of the interesting to visit places.
Locals refer to this region as Convoy. There's a plethora of Asian food options here, but sparse parking available. Street parking is usually recommended, as some of the parking lots are tiny.
This is where the venue is located at. There's a good selection of predominantly Italian restaurants in this area.
Lots of good Asian food options here as well, albeit with better parking situations.
Plenty of good food around here, and a bookstore. This area can be walkable if you're willing to walk.
Nice for walking along the waterfront, although not necessarily on the beach itself due to the amount of seals that like to hangout there. The water will probably be cold during that time of the year, so we would not recommend swimming unless you have a wetsuit.
More of a classic beach experience with walking along the sand. There are no seals here, but the water wiill be cold at that time of the year, so use a wetsuit if you plan on swimming in the ocean.
Nice hiking area by the beach. If you're willing to walk about 0.5 miles further, we would reocmmend parking along the street to avoid paying for parking.
